After Jan 1 2022,they'll be illegal to hunt in Ontario. There's an addendum to the FWCAct in the works right now. OMNRF have bought in to the theory that hunting them educates them and drives the reproductive cycle into high gear making the population explode,diverging the sounders and making them impossible to control. There's an article in Out of Doors magazine on the subject. Personally,I ain't buyin' it. Time will certainly tell,but,if data from New York state is any indicator,all hell will break loose if the government is wrong. They're destructive to agricultire at every level and just wait until campers,hikers and horse riders encounter a sounder in the bush. I can hear the yellin' and screamin' now. They think there's a Coyote issue? HAH!! Just wait.Quote:

So not hunting them will prevent dispersal of the pigs.
Eventually a pissed off farmer protecting their crops or rural property owner feeling threatened by them, will start to shoot them...........and then what?
The pigs will know-nah,we are not being hunted, just ignore it and stay together???
Daydream at best.
Oh on private property they’ll be dropped.
So far,hunters can take them because there's no law against it. That's why there has to be an amendent to the FWCA to make it illegal to shoot them. In this country,as long as there's no law against something,it's a legal activity.Quote:
