I use a cheap Canadian tire mastercraft 18vt and clam plate for the past three years with no issues. I don’t have a gas auger anymore but if I had to buy new I’d stay electric just for the weight

Still running my old trusty rusty homemade chisel/spud.... when ice gets thick I got a couple buddies with augers, lol.
Way I see it, I used to hike miles to go fishing, now I turn a key and drive out. Used to used to used to.... gotta keep the winter belly grease at bay somehow.
We're all running gas augers here as of yet but it's mostly to maintain a 10" hole size.

Been running a gas Jiffy for a very long time.
I was thinking of getting a Ion just to reduce the weight.
I also have a hand 6" and 8" that I use early in the season.
Had gas units in the past, Jiffy then Strikemaster... Switched to the 40V Strikemaster and it was the best thing I ever did! Awesome unit for sure!
