Nice analogy. I may have to borrow it.

I would say our youth inherited the freedom many died for, yes. They do learn about it at school as it is part of the curriculum. They are inundated with information of this nature every year during the week leading up to remembrance day. We need to have a bit more faith in this demographic. They have known nothing but freedom, and would know quickly if it were taken away. They are much more technologically savvy and would coordinate efforts much quicker than generations past.
What the issue looks to be is a small group of people are worried the sky is falling when no such thing is happening. Yet they are screaming at the top of their lungs to get attention for their paranoid driven beliefs.
Of course their is the odd chance that this is all a dream, and none of it is real.
Good old time and patience will figure this one out.
Democracy left Canada about 6 years ago
The problem is Canada elects a dictator each time and this time it was an actual dictatorship admirer, once in Canadians just have no way to recall or kick out a politician once they are elected if they have a majority or support of another party with the same goals. Rex Murphy and Jordan Peterson give an excellent discussion of the disaster we have now.
I am sure the supporters of the National Socialists said that too in 1933 when the Enabling Act was put in place.
Honestly Gilroy ??? I saw a peaceful protest, yes with some inconvenience for some residents which is regrettable but NECESSARY
you can bet your last dollar that if that protest was supporting Black Lives Matter, or LGBTQ rights, or First Nations, young Justin would be defending their rights of protest and likely flipping burgers to feed them.
It’s not the protest. I’m not sure why people think that was the issue. It was the trucks and rv’s camping on a public road and blocking it that was the problem. If the campers and trucks left, the protest would still be going on without any emergencies act. Seriously!:
The protestors made their point in the first weekend. When they decided to entrench themselves in downtown Ottawa vowing to remain until they got what they wanted their actions went beyond a protest and became an illegal occupation that disrupted the lives and businesses of the people who live there. The rights of the people in Ottawa to live peacefully in their community outweighs the rights of protestors to squat in their streets indefinitely.
