I truly don't understand what your saying here. How is scouting dangerous, and why would you be getting shot?

Scouting and woodsmanship are integral components of becoming a successful hunter. Good for you to offer. Maybe the fact that he doesn’t want to go scouting with you is an indication that he might not be a good match as a hunting partner.
I think our definitions of scouting are different. Your definition is probably correct.
Had an experience where I was helping a guy train his beagle. I was out there trying to boot up some rabbits and almost got shot when the rabbit burst out of the bush. The guy wasn't suppose to shoot; the deal was to boot up some rabbits for the dog, but...... Won't do that again.
Sharon that is really too bad. That person shouldn't even have a gun license. My dad and I used to hunt rabbits without a dog and we would always do what you were doing. One jump on a brush pile and the other way for the rabbit to run, but we were smart enough to know that you didn't shoot if the rabbit ran anywhere close to the jumper.
Lol, well if you need a replacement new guy who would be happy to help scout, set up, etc. let me know! Second year at it, and dying to have someone show me the ropes
