As true as that statement is, its also very misleading and what the deniers hide behind. While change is always happening, the rate has increased dramatically since the industrial age and simply watching the increase in damaging weather events clearly shows that things are picking up pace.

Sure there have always been hurricanes and floods, but not at the rate we are seeing around the world now. Its easy to site in Canada where we are sheltered from most of those weather events and pretend its not increasing, but I suspect the people living along the gulf coast in the US have a different perspective.

Faster in recent history anyways, Antarctica experienced rather dramatic changes at some point in the far past. Scientists have proof that it was once a tropical rain forest. I’d like to point out that the original topic of this thread is carbon tax. I don’t think the author is saying we should do nothing about pollution. But is pointing out that carbon tax does nothing to help, but instead puts strain on the economy and the average Canadian. As to what we can do to help the environment I would still have to say that we should focus the time on money on helping third world countries set up proper waste disposal and recycling centres. The reason for this is G2 countries have very small parts of emissions so if we were to focus more time and effort on the real polluters like African, Asian, and South American countries, we would be doing more for the environment. Also our prime minister who pretends to care for the environment has no problem flying his family to Florida, flying back the next day for a meeting and then turning around and flying back again. Maybe we should also focus on these kind of activities and not go after the average Joe who has little to do with mass pollution.

Wood is actually green energy. It's the original solar panel. The CO2 released when burning wood gets put back into wood via photosynthesis. The crazies in the EU even recognize it as such.

The reason we are seeing some much on hurricanes and floods lately is not because of their occurrence but because of media coverage and hype.
Back in the 1990's when the global warning thing started, the apocalypse (for lack of a better word) would be 2030 - seven years from now.
It's been bumped now to 2050 - and in another 20 years I'm sure it will be 2070.

Is there anyone who hasn't yet figured out that this is NOT about the climate - its about money and wealth transfer.

On a per capita basis Canadians are about the worse offenders in the World. Long cold winters, long driving distances.

Does your 5% take into consideration the pollution caused all around the World in our EXPORTS OF FOSSIL FUELS?

Even if you were to get a CHANGE you will still get a carbon Tax except THEY will try to hide it and call it a carbon LEVY.

So here is a question.......how is the carbon tax they are collecting being used exactly? Is there any bookkeeping of the money collected and where it was spent or is it just another black hole of a money grab?

Well I look at MSM and see hurricanes, fires, flooding, drought, all over the World, no need to look up anything on the internet is actually right before my eyes.

I put on my thinking cap and say, well in the past 67 years I have lived, I have never see anything like this and its getting worse.

What to believe.

Maybe I should believe Werner about all this and its always happened over the centuries OR maybe I should believe CLIMATE SCIENTISTS who have made a life time of studying and research.

You know the same scientists that Mr Harper cut of all funding and ongoing research because he was firmly in the pockets of Big Oil.
