Fifty years ago,I was given a knife by my father-in-law called a Khyber duel blade locking folder. I can't count the number of game animals it's cleaned,but,it doesn't know "quit". I have no idea what kind of steel the blades are,but,they hold an edge like crazy and sharpen to a razor edge quickly. I also use a wide bladed Rapala Skinner with a gut zipper tip that opens carcasses up in seconds.
Fixed blade normark. Had it since 1983.
Not sure how many years I’ve had it but it’s been a long time. An original Russel belt knife….
All I use well when I bought it was a $8 moraknife. Now they're around $15, I cleaned moose, many black bear, and a few deer with my cheap mora

Got one of these for 2 reasons. 1. So my sausage fingers wouldn't slip off smaller handled knives so easy and 2. The orange is easier to see when field dressing after dark and you set it on the ground for a second, then spend 5 minutes trying to find it again. Also keep a havalon piranta in my pack as well.
I got one of those guys, probably bought it 45 years ago, a guy at work used to flog them for the company. Real good knife and does indeed hold a edge well, also came with a serial number and warranty which was lifetime,very well made US quality.Quote:

It’s interesting to see the different responses. Knives are a personal item and the make/style is a reflection of individual tastes.
I’m sure everyone appreciates their knives for their functionality and use and although we all hunt,most everyone’s choice is different.
The reasons why I like my knife is that the blade is fixed, comes in a sheath with a snap lock, the blade is 5-1/2” long and narrow which is good for removing the anus from moose and deer. My only complaint is that it doesn’t have a wooden handle; I would have preferred hickory or other North America wood.
I have an old Schrade fixed blade, not sure of the model. It has a 3 1/2" blade and has field dressed many deer and turkeys for me. TC
I had been gifted a Buck 110 as a young hunter and carried it afield for 20 to 25 years.
Unfortunately, I allowed another hunter to use it while removing a bruin skull and got the knife back missing the tip.
I have replaced it this year with an Iron Will blade. I used their broadheads last year on a moose with success. Thought I would give the knife a chance.
They promote the use of A2 steel. I don't know my metals truthfully. Discovered the company on a Meateater podcast.
