Due to numerous shoulder injuries in hockey, I find in the cold after sitting for hours when it comes time to draw I get the yips a bit on full draw,

I can't really sit and shoot, finding it too hard to draw. I'm standing most of the time in the stand.
I turned 60 this year. I switched to a 40 pound recurve last year after using 55 pound compound bow for 15 years. I hunt from tree stands using tree pegs not a ladder stand. I am not a physically strong person but I am in good health.
Nice, I'm 65 I will probably be using a crossbow next year. My arms can't do it anymore. I was really hoping to get out with a recurve, but can't see that happening.Quote:

Shoulder pain, and cold weather "issues" forced me to add a crossbow to my collection of toys, and in 2013 that crossbow helped me bag my largest buck ever. Now I own a take-down version of the Excalibur 340 but also use rifles and shotguns for various hunts.
At 63 this year, I will be hunting from tree stands, natural elevations and hideouts, and ground blinds.
Never allow age to interfere with your outdoors activities, as long as you feel SAFE doing what you do! ;)
I'm 71 and I hunt out of stands with a crossbow. I did use my climber last year three or four times as well. I started bow hunting in my early 50s and I sure regret waiting that long.
I'm officially well into geezer territory,too. I was talked into trying out a tree stand last season for the first time last fall. I'd always been very leery of them. After using them for a few days,I'm kind of liking them. It was a 20' ladder stand with a larger seat and footrest that belonged to a buddy. I found it quite comfortable for sitting for an extended time with enough room to effectively use my compound in any direction. I might ask to borrow it again this year.
