Dog Troubles

Time to become a landowner yourself and control your own destiny.
As a guest, not your place to start a dispute between two landowners.
Does the current landowner have an issue with his neighbors hounds ?

Most townships have a dog catcher, give then a call.

that is probably the best solution. There a couple of really big white dogs a couple properties over. someone most have reported him as he had to put a fence up and keep the dogs in or loose them. this was before I started hunting where I hunt. They came by me one morning while i was hunting. Gave them a scratch and off the went away from their place. I called the owner and let him know they were running loose, he wasnt concerned but never saw them again, so he got the message i guess.

There’s a lot of info that we don’t know so it’s difficult to offer advice.

Maintaining a civil relationship with neighbours is important however that can only be achieved if both parties see value in that objective.

It’s important that the dog owner realize that allowing his dog (s) to roam off its property is illegal. He should also be made aware that the dogs are interfering with a legal hunt to which there could be consequences (fines).

Ideally in any conflict you seek a resolution that is mutually beneficial. If the other party isn’t willing to listen or change behaviour, then step it up. At the end of the day, the Authorities may have to be brought in to ensure compliance with the law.

Taking the law into your own hands rarely works out well.

Most townships have bylaws for dogs running loose off their own property.
Neighbor up the road had to shoot 2 dogs that killed about 40 of his chickens
He warned the owner of the dogs and informed the bylaw officer but after so many complaints he did what he had to do.
He called the OPP after he shot the dogs and the officer called the bylaw officer to have the owner of the dogs charged for having their dogs running at large and they also had to pay for the chickens
