You might want to drill 2 side by side.
We caught a 12lber last year and it JUST squeezed through the 8 inch hole.

lol, i see people fishing all the time here in the bay of quinte using 4-6" augers. i tell them they may wanna bring a spud out next time and resize that hole. youd barely get the nose of a 15 lb walleye up a 4 inch hole LOL.....americans..... wait till i post the video of them trying to plow the ice off way out in the middle with there quad... lol
i tried drilling two holes and it always seemed to jsut end up in the same hole witha larger openign at the top but the same size at the bottome. Hmm amybe time to upsize. If i jsut put bigger blades on, do you think it would work, rather than buying a new auger.
NO..you need to buy a bigger auger! When you try drilling two...you're probably starting too close, then drifting into the first one. If you have a chisel, or shovel, or somehting to bang away with, you should be able to leave a small gap and get rid of it after both holes are drilled.

I have pulled Lakers out of a 6, but I am much more relaxed knowing I have a 8. Fish on!!!

I know rugger. The big lakes have 2 feet of snow on them. Not much ice on them yet
