We stayed there about 4 years ago and the launch ramp is right across from the park....lots of fishermen were there. The ramp itself is big with lots of room though:thumbup:

the boat launch at onaping is just fine.great parking,no cost with video surveilance.the launch is not bad at all in my opinion and there is a nice big dock that you can pull your boat up to to load up with your gear.i would highly recommend onaping.pretty much every island has a campsite on it.and its such a big finger lake that once you get to the 20 mile point there is little traffic so you feel like you are secluded
Great! thanks guys - looks like I'm going to camp :) Should be a great time! I can't wait to get up there and give it a go.

find an island and make a camp. Many great spots to choose from. Had a trip up there a few years ago and caught some huge pike. Had a hard time finding the walleye. Good bass as well. The ministry has been stocking lake trout for a while so thats always an option as well. Be carefull of the bears while you there. We had alot around. Trolling a gold/black rapala was geat on the pike, jigs for the bass
Lake Onaping Lodge operated by Jack and Sandy is the place I spoke of in my previous message. If I was ever to return, which I wouldn't, I would sleep in my vehicle.
I assumed that was the place you were speaking of.... The other lodge hasn't answered two emails - they may not be interested in business this year LOL!
This is why I have decided on camping :)

hey fishfrenzy, when do you plan on going?there are 8 of us going for 5 days on the 25th of july this year.we are going to about mile 30.
for pickerel all we use is jigs with leeches.chartruce or orange seem to be the best colours.
dont be such a girl and camp!
well I have booked a 4 day stay at that "lodge" so lets hope it was just you and an odd ocurrance that time, either way we are booked and going in 2 weeks
I have read that this lake is stocked with walleye not just trout,we are taking our 2 boys so hoping we can get into some Eyes, dont have to be trophy ones just pan size will do
if anyone has any info where we can get some Eyes close to the south end please respond Or PM me,we will be using small 14 foot boats with 9.9 Hps so its out of the question to travel 30+ miles up the lake in search of them, hoping to find some weedlines and try the islands I guess and bays
PS--just joined and my 1st post
Sounds like an interesting lake to fish - is there a place where I can park my pickup with slide-in camper on this lake - a campground or similar place - I've been up in that area years ago but never got to this lake - I'm looking for a new lake to fish once this year - any help would be appreciated - thanks
