Sorry for your loss... Having no kids I get very attached to my dogs... Goin to have to do the deed real shortly here for my 15 year old lab... Heart breaker at any age... Good luck with your new pup buddy!!!
Jim, its an Airedale Terrier like the one that passed.
Thats what the vet said it was, telescoping intestine... The operation was over 4,000, and only a slim chance of recovery. He really got under our skin, big time.Quote:

Awful hard decisions. I had a big running GSP that got fully - covering cataracts . $2000. per eye plus no promises they wouldn't return. Dog hated being a couch potato and when in the backyard would run into trees , fence etc- opened up its' side twice. I decided I had to put him down , but it was very painful decision.Quote:

Nothing worse than a sick animal... We had to put down our beagle earlier than we ever anticipated... She ended up with a growth in her intestines. Even if she'd been operated on and everything went as well as it could, the risk for infection was really high, the surgery was risky and there was a likely potential that it regrow. (She kept getting these warty looking growths here and there that just kept getting bigger and bigger. We'd had some on her face removed but they came back.) She really wasn't ready to go but we couldn't put her through a risky surgery only to have her suffer more. Pains me just thinking about it...Quote:
