Undertaker throws a decent pattern and price is right
Take your gun with full and pattern it. If you're not happy, buy an aftermarket extra full one, but pattern your gun 1st.
Me? I use the extra full turkey choke that came with my Mossberg 500 turkey barrel. But have just as easily shot a regular full choke with success.
ya I think ill test out my full choke that came with my supernova. If I don't like the pattern ill buy a extra full
Also keep in mind, that it is a balance of 3 things, gun, choke, and shell. You may get a pattern you don't like with the full, but it could be just the shell you're shooting, get a few different types and try different combo's.
What I had done, was Google my gun, and the chokes I was looking at, found people with the same setups and what was working from there, and tried those few combo's and found one that worked for me.
I use a Patternmaster Black Cloud choke to compliment the Federal Mag-Shot shells I use, like Black Cloud they are rear deploying. i find they are shooting a tighter pattern for me.
If I could ask exactly what is a Turkey Choke? Isn't it just an extra full choke? Is it that much tighter then a Full choke?
Also why do many use these after market chokes are they that much better built then chokes that come with the gun?
Turkey choke is just an extra full, yes.
That's why I've suggested patterning the gun with the full. Many folks would be completely happy with the full pattern, and knowing where it goes.
Why do many use after market chokes? Really?..........come on, how many of us really need all the camo we own? How many of us need all the calls, toys, etc.......
Now before the pile on begins, yes, I use an extra full choke. But I wouldn't have gone out and bought one if it didn't come with the gun.
Some other factors to consider are, what type of shot you're using, most factory chokes are not rated for Hevi Shot / High Density Loads and require an aftermarket that is.
As well there are some technology differences, some extended aftermarkets are ported for wad stripping ability, while some are smooth to allow the flight control (federal) technology do its thing.
All boils down to what you buy into, and want to pay for.
Personal choice and preferences.
