That's the case for any mass merchandiser, CT and Walmart specifically.
They'll get you through in a pinch, but if you want to be dry, warm, comfortable and operating at highest efficiency... you steer clear.

Was in Listowell a couple weeks back and was very impressed! London and St Thomas have minimal inventory. Listowell even has a few popular guns. Savage Axis, mkii etc..
The CT in Kitchener (Victoria/Hwy 7) has a fantastic hunting section and so does the one in Parry Sound. I remember the old CT in Sudbury had an obscenely fantastic firearm selection with both new and used. However this was over 20 yrs ago and I can't say I've been in the new one yet.
I have been in the CT that sells firearms in Peterborough but really did not take any notice on how there are stored other than in the glass case. Believe BassPro and Sail just just have them on the gun rack with trigger locks, then you go to a store like Accuracy Plus or Williams Arms and it looks like the old Kingston jail all the bars and buzzers. Maybe for there own insurance rates not mandatory.
The guys at Sail (Oshawa) are starting to get to know me now, I go in quite often (and spend money lol) the guys there are fairly helpful for me as a familiar face. I enjoyed my trip up to Accuracy the other weekend...a) I was so pumped to get my "new" (it was used) fire arm and b) the people there were very pleasant and helpful.
I went to Bass Pro in Vaughn the other weekend, I did purchase some Ammunition. However, I was unhappy with the service. I guess it is the sheer size and how busy the place was, but I truly just felt like a number there. I did not find what I really came in for, but when I ditched the impatient employee I looked on my own I eventually found what I was looking for. Now I know, not all the employees will be like that, I understand that, but I also felt a different vibe a Bass Pro for some reason. Don't get me wrong, I love walking into a massive store and there is wall to wall of great looking hunting/fishing/outdoor stuff. I will say though, I am not a fan of the location of this store being attached to a large upscale mall, seems to bring in a crowd that's just gets in my way. Although, its probably a good thing for the City Folk to be exposed to our Sport so why am I complaining, lol. If I am in that area again, I'll stick to Sail on the other side of the highway.
My point here is that when going all the way up to a store like Bass Pro, makes me appreciate the small hunting section in the CT around the corner from my place or even better the Sail which is 15 minutes east off the 401 from me. I can go in and look around and be out in the matter of minutes or hours, depends how much money I have in my pocket LOL and not feel like strangling someone in the process.
Happy Hunting/Shopping!

You guys living in the outlying TO areas are lucky...most of your CT's are all revamping and expanding their hunting sections while the big city stores are going the opposite way. Too bad for them, I know many people -myself included- that would gladly pay an extra buck or two on commonly used ammo or other hunting supplies purchased from CT rather than have to drive to LeBarons, Sail or BP.
3 mouth calls for $49?Quote:
3 pack of calls for $49
The Scarborough CT outdoor section is practically non existent , so there really isnt any other choice but to travel to Bpro, lebarons or sail. I recently visited the CT in Brantford and their turkey section appeared to be a rack of vests and a rack of a few calls.
