A jaeger in the making!
Wow, a DL! What made you choose the breed? How much they go for? (PM me if you prefer).
R u going to test in the German system?
Have fun, good luck and I'd love to see your dog one day :)
Such a beautiful breed and pup!
Thanks BDH!
This has been a VERY long process! I had my mind made up lon the breed (and breeder) long ago, but have been training in schutzhund for the past 8 years so had no time to train a dog in a different discipline. My older dobe retired 2 years ago, and we moved house since then, so it was FINALLY the right time. So happy!
And Yes, I will be testing Finn under JGHV.
Very nice. A DL out of that kennel has been on my must have list(DL, DK, DD) for a few years. And on paper the Dam looks phenomenal, I'm sure he will be an excellent hunter.
I've had a lot of time to think about what breed, and breeder I would like. And after much conversations and research I found what I feel is the best fit for me from the DL, and vom Coraschatten kennels. I always wanted a versatile dog, and love the German dogs/breeding program in particular but the DL's calm temperament was the key reason I chose this breed over all the others. I also like the look and wanted a dog that had a good coat for our winters.
Pricing was typical of other versatile dogs, and Cortney posts her prices on her kennel website: http://www.coraschatten.com/
I will test in the JGHV system, and plan to test in NAVHDA as well.
Good choice, doing tracking with it?
Thanks!
Would love to get him into blood tracking, now that it is legal :) LOL
Not planning to focus on coons or bear (if that's what you are talking about?) But, if the opportunity presents itself then I may have to oblige :)
BTW, love your signature! Pretty sure that is relevant to most of us on this forum!
Yep, I did mean blood tracking. There is a need for tracking dogs in S. Ontario, its fun to do and is an under estimated part of the hunt - at least for new hunters. Just a matter of getting the word out.
