On the dog it'll feel like a pimple.....on examination it'll look like a small pee in size and fixed to the dog at a point (it's neck).

Just came from fishing trip and one bit my wife on the shoulder.
She did not realize that it was a tick and just shake it off. She felt like pulling a hair out and there is small bite mark like needle point big. How to prevent anything related to lyme disease?
I have read the article that sharon posted about the magnotta vine guy and got me pretty worried.
If she sees a bullseye rash see Dr asap.(Not my post about Mr. Magnotta.)

Could have been a wood or dog tick.

That's why you keep it in your pants. :)
picked one off myself while up in Parry Sound a few weeks back. zero on the dog but I will be checking tonight!!!!
Yes, we've started picking them up, both in the London and Sarnia areas. We have shorthaired dogs and can usually spot a tick very easily, thank goodness. Tick checking is a daily process.
Thanks Sharon!
Found one on Misty the day after our trip to the hunting camp in the Vennachar (Ontario) area. This is the first one I've seen in our area.
Picked up some high pyrethrin "Tick Repellan" spray for clothing for us (from Walmart US), and ordered some K9 Advantix II for her (it has yet to come in), until it comes in she has been on lockdown in our yard, on a leash only - she hates it.
