Bow season runs Oct 1-Dec 31. There is a controlled season for shotgun first week of Nov and first week of Dec so you can use your shotgun. Otherwise, you'll have to head further north if you wish to rifle hunt deer.
You'll need an Ontario outdoors card # before applying for controlled season so make that a priority when you arrive. There is a Service Ontario location in Barrie that should be able to look after that for you.
Did the on-base controlled deer hunt 2002 or 2003....good times. Crowded compared to what I was used too, and shotguns or ML's instead of centrefire rifles. But good tasty crop-fed deer. I took a real nice 180-lb (dressed) 6-pointer.
.......
Excellent news. Hopefully I will be able to get everything squared away before seasons opening. I'll be sure to hit the gun club as soon as I hit ground as well.
If your moving into the 5th line Subdivision look me up in there Clearview Contracting im doing the fences in there...
Yes, the Borden R&G is still running but not in the "big cabin" built about 20 years ago, that's been taken over by the WO & Sgt Mess. The R&G club now works out of the sugar shack. And don't let yourself be fooled, it's not the mother lode, I work out there and know most of the turkeys and deer on a first name basis. There's some nice bucks every year, most are still wandering around.
Welcome to the neighbourhood!
Welcome, I suggest you start looking into turkey hunting courses now so you are good to go for spring.
