If anybody asks I am generally the first to curse a ram truck. Seen my fathers '05 nightmare and my father in laws '04 and the buddies '11 all costly piles of yuck. That being said a guy from work pushed me into his ecodiesel ram last week for a trip to Huntsville and back. Wow! I am sooo sorry to report how impressed I was. I was instructed not to be gentle so off I went. Ride was far better than most with the four corner airbags, beautiful interior and plenty of power to boot (0-60 in under 10 seconds) averaged 28mpg at higher than highway speeds. Its absolutely disgusting how interested I am in this ride. My only major complaints would be the poor paint job on the underside and the near zero clearance on the front. Levelling kit would be a must for me but there goes the mileage.

Will never spend a personal dime on a dodge, years of bad experiences, both myself and dad (fleet vehicles) in the shop constantly, mine currently is, and going on it's third week there.

Seem to be built on cheap components.

Anyone can get a lemon, it happens, but a new one every year, and all lemons?

But the 65K price tag turned me off. For now stick with my F250 and in Jan downsize to F150, 5.0l FX, if I can find the motor. Had the 6cyl in non eco and eco and decided to move up to full V8 agian. You carry alot of extra wieght with 6cyl and the fuel milage is about the same as V8, plus you have the extra power when needed.

Go for a Duramax they come with an allison transmission and last forever I got an 2006 never missed a beat gets 950km tank hwy 98liters. That dodge Eco diesel is a pentastar won't last long. Or if you like dodge go for cummins. Stay away from Ford diesels unless it's the old 7.3.

I have the EDGE programmer for my 5.4, and I used it while it was still under warranty! My dealer never seemed to mind, as long as there weren't problems they could relate to the programmer. I've had the programmer for about 6 years now running premium on the performance tune and the mileage makes up for the cost of premium gas, and some extra power :) If anything I think the programmer has helped the tranny last longer with crisper firmer shifts.

When the time comers I'll get another F150 as well, but I'd opt for the 5 Litre over the Eco boost. The difference in mileage isn't noticeable and turbo's scare me for longevity.

Absolutely! Dealers can not deny you warranty with it in there. And yes if we find the failure was directly related to the programmer that particular repair wouldn't be warranty. However I knew there was going to be a new engine installed in my truck before the warranty ended and therefore waited to put in the programmer with a fresh engine! So far so good. Not a hitch and the shift patterns have been improved. Just waiting for the latest tune to come out and hoping for even better results!

The thing about the diesel option is the price difference is usually so huge that it could take years for it to even break even in fuel costs vs a gas engine. 7-8K $ premium buys alot of gasoline.
