Regardless of the regs, rather have an orange pack for safety's sake. It won't ruin the hunt.
For that matter, all the best hunting gear seems to be only available in fancy advanced camo. I think I smell a business opportunity!

Before blaze orange became mandatory, 1 of the guys in our group used an old army surplus pack. He pinned a 12" x 12" square piece of cloth to the visible portion of the pack.
I guess you could buy a cheap blaze orange vest @ Crappy Tire or WallyMart, cut a square out of the mat'l & safety pin it to your vest.
That being said if you're hunting in an area where having your jacket partially covered by a backpack is detrimental to your safety, I'd be concerned.
They do sell some, but legally you do not need one, you can use your camo one.
Is there a beating a dead horse emoticon?
I picked up this Orange pack at a Gun Show in Lanark County one year. Buddy had a dozen of them and priced at $12 ea ....I bought one quick....my buddy saw me with it, headed over to the stand and he was sold out. I think they lasted 15 minutes into the show.
Nice size for a quick hunt and made of whisper fabric. Lots of side pockets etc.

I have a black backpack that I use - a camo backback is too much imo lol.
Buy an orange rain cover for your pack...
I have a nice camo one for waterfowling, but I put it down once to retrieve some geese and spent 20 minutes frantically searching for it. It had my truck keys in it. True story. Now when I leave it, I hang it in a tree or some open area where it is easy to find.
Not a pack but this worked great for me. Here's the guys email [email protected]
PFW Country store just east of Peterborough (705) 295-6803 has a backpack made by Bushline that is very similar to the one shown below.
