Prices in the Gun Library

I checked out the Gun Library the first time I was at Cabelas and left there shaking my head. Putting an old gun behind glass doesn't make it worth more money. The prices were way out of line and to be honest the guns were nothing to write home about.
As for used guns in general if you shop around you can often get far better value for your money over buying new. I've bought a number of used guns in the past in near new condtion for substantially less than the cost of a new one. Just gotta shop around.

There are a couple of Facebook groups that seem to think of guns as short term investments, they can't understand why no one wants to pay $600 for a military that has had a new plastic stock, fancy sights, etc added to a $200 gun. Any 22 bolt action seems to be $200, any deer rifle $500.

There's a 12g on one Facebook group going for,189.... you can buy the EXACT same one for $99 new at Canada ammo

I seen a single Bakhil 20 gauge for sale 2 years ago the asking price was 199.00 used, but you could buy it new from Sail for 150.00 and I bought mine in 1986 for 69.99.

Last Cooey 84 I saw I bought and paid $80. Had my uncle refinish the stock for something to do. Mint truck gun!

I sold a few hunting knives on ebay a couple of years ago. One was a lower end knife but it got bid up to $45. At the time it was selling for $29.99 at Canadian Tire. I can't believe people don't do their homework before bidding on stuff.

The high-ballers count on ignorance. My experience when trying to buy off such sellers is that when I attempt to bring the price into the right stratosphere, the just stop talking to me. No loss.

On the other hand, grinding on an already fair price usually results in a missed opportunity. The last 2 doubles I bought I paid exactly what the sellers were asking, only negotiating on the shipping. I'd been eyeing both models for a couple years, seen several come and go, and knew when the deal was more than fair.

LOL Ninepointer . And your at the opposite end of the spectrum to what is known as a , lowballer and tire kicker wanting stuff for nothing to the point of insulting .;):thumbup: . Yes some prices can be high so that it doesn't leave you enough meat on the bone to make a profit but in reality what business is it of yours then to whine . Just for your info also , I sold that old double with saddle scabbard for exactly what I asked for it that you tried to lowball me on . :thumbup: . I just picked up a 35 if your interested though . ;) Just don't waste my time tire kicking and lowballing . Were not all desperate . The firearm itself doesn't mean anything to me nor am I a dealer of any sort but don't mind helping somebody out to dispose of an item they no longer have any use for . It's priced right too . ;)

Yes but sometimes you see new used at a higher price then New. When I purchased my Mossberg 2 years ago I looked around for used. Found several that were "Brand new" and they were asking well over 100 more then any new Mossberg. One was asking 200 more. Now either these guy's got really ripped off and paid much more or they were looking for some newbie sucker.

I do like old guns and all my guns have wood stocks.

Yes GW I know that . I've seen it often myself . I've also seen giants such as Walmart,Costco etc blow out items below cost .
