101 Year Old WW2 Vet Tied up and Robbed

Update to the assault. The scum bag actually tried to suffocate the victim.
Hope he gets the same in prison.

Ian Bush, 59, has been charged with attempted murder after a 101-year-old war veteran was robbed and left bound with a plastic bag over his head.

Bush appeared in court on Saturday to face several charges:

• Attempted murder.
• Robbery with violence.
• Forcible confinement.
• Break and enter.
• Use a credit card obtained by crime (two counts).

Ernest Côté, a veteran of the Second World War, was alone in his apartment at 31 Durham Pvt. when a man claiming to be a City of Ottawa employee asked to be buzzed into the building around 7:30 a.m. ET on Thursday.

Once in the building, the man forced himself into Côté's apartment and demanded money.
Côté was robbed and left tied up with a plastic bag over his head. He managed to free himself after the man left and called 911. He was not injured.
Ottawa police released photos and a surveillance video after the home invasion. A tip led to the arrest of a suspect on Friday, police said.

Thank Dear God the victim had the strength to free himself. The scumbag wanted him dead but didn't have the parts to watch it happen.

Declare him a terrorist please! and send him on a free all expense paid Cruise vacation to SE Cuba. I'm thinking near the "Resort" area of Caimanera. 24/7 room service, private rooms, lots of water-sports, an international food/drink menu and numerous innovative ways to enjoy it, a dedicated staff.........

What's this got to do with public service / government employees. ?? I must have missed something !

The report I saw said he was a city employee. Is that not correct?

EDIT....looks like the National Post paper states HE POSED as a CITY EE. Not a CITY EE

Looks like he was a HR consultant and his wife is a nurse at a seniors residence. Once again, there is something way whacky with this.

I liked what the victim said.

"We're you afraid?"

answer: "No way! I was mad as hell!"

Sounds just like what a WW2 veteran would say , considering what they went through.

I loved that comment, reminded me of my grandfather who was a WW2 Dispatch Rider.

It was likely the "fighting spirit" in this old vet that saved his life.
