#74 is a black coyote

Saw a black female with two pups (one black one brown) two years ago in oro.

Good location and shooting for sure!Have seen one or two jet black ones over the years but they are rare but so cool looking.More of the really brown/black ones in our area and a dog mix sometimes perhaps.Most we ever got was 60 so good job!

Out of curiosity and wanting to know coyote population densities, how many square miles have you guys hunted and taken out 74 coyotes? Don't have to be precise, just a rough estimate. I also would imagine that your success rate of seeing and killing one on the chase at perhaps 50% especially when pairs split up. Is that a fair number?

This winter we have only hunted the same 10 areas and allike are in a 10 km area.We can chase one block and get a couple coyotes and do that same block the next weekend and get more.Very rarely we do a block and not bump a coyote.We usually get 50% of the ones we chase.
I started calling coyotes before we chased with hounds and thought there weren't that many coyotes around.I'm amazed at how many coyotes there are around.

So, 74 coyotes in a 10 kilometre area? Holy komoly..No wonder they wipe out an area of all bunnies and put a dent in the deer population.
