However, they are in fact a factory loaded "stringer load" which would also have merits for hunting bunnies, grouse, pheasants in tough cover.....
These shells do work well but so does any other load inside 30 yards. If you want to shoot 50 to 60 yards then shells like this are your deal. But personally I can't see spending 11.50 per shell..... I guess I'm able to call then in close enough I can save myself coin. I like using an arrow because I can use it over and over again just sharpen a broad head.
BTW Win supreme #5s 1300 FPS are deadly loads for less than 1/4 the price.... In a pinch if your using an older more open choked shotgun steel #4s in 3" work great as well. I know an older guy whom gets his birds every year and that's all he uses.
Yeah, this is just like stores selling real deer urine. It's legal to sell, but not to use while hunting.
I use Kent Turkey Loads... $7-8 for 10.
I mentioned this to a friend about a month ago about those shells...lets see how long it takes before its brought up on a message board....haha...here we are....
Legal to sell, illegal to use (here). Basspro sells the stuff but they are kind enough to post a sign above the ammo counter stating that it can't be used here. I suppose their reasoning is that if you are going to travel for a turkey hunt where the stuff is legal, you can purchase and pattern before you go.
I am sure thy would do a heck of a job on a pheasant ..that is just a crazy price ,but I see a lot of guys in the usa that use them ,,thy are very popular down there ,,Dutch
Re: the mix of small shot in these heavy duty loads - have a look at how much energy a #7 1/2 has at 50+ yards. Adding the small shot for a denser pattern at long range is best described as sucker-bait. The only place for smaller shot in turkey hunting as at shorter ranges and then almost any load will do - small shot will have the energy - large shot will have the pattern density.
