I don't have plans, but I make mine out of 2x4s and 1x3s (rungs and seat). I cut the 1x3s at 16" and space the rungs 12" apart. When I get to the top, I build about a 16" deep seat with a 2x4 frame and then tightly space the 1x3s for a seat (let's water drain through the seat). I sit on the seat and rest my feet on the highest rung. I mostly shoot from a sitting position. I feel perfectly safe in them and they last about 10 years in most conditions, but I'm not hunting hard swamps and I'm out of shape, but I'm not the giant-fatty that a lot of hunters get to be. Don't know if that helps anyone at all...
I've been trying to find those plans for years.
Just got a letter telling me that my hip surgery is two weeks before the hunt so there is no hurry this year.....
i would think that they would be no harder than portaging a canoe......then use a nylon strap to keep it in place. Maybe a fold down " high chair tray " on hinges for a shooting rest and coffee holder...

No - that's all I had to work with. I bought 16' 2x4s and designed the rest of the measurements from there. I added in a gate/shooting rest at the front. I put a temporary shelf up that hung over one side but it was too bulky. I'll redesign something better this summer.Quote:

This looks like a great design!
Just remember that the back of your seat is up against the tree, so use a strong piece of something like 3/4" plywood with a notch cut in it to stop it sliding on the tree until you get up and strap things in place....
