Agreed, Harper has to keep a bunch from the almost left to almost off the chart on the right to Libertarians etc. while Trudough has in large a collection of sheeple and yet added the "green light process" that eliminates anyone pro-life, who questions man made global warming etc and yet grabbed Eve Adams and put in some of the most left idiots he could... I am waiting for David Suzuki or Peter Mansbridge to run, eliminated the Liberal caucus in the Senate at almost a whim and like his father stated his admiration for dictorships....

Mulcair... no idea really but he would have to be a strong leader of similar power to Harper to control his inexperienced chaos.

Democracy has shown itself to be no guarantee of rights and freedoms if the people can be manipulated or convinced that their group is right. I forget the exact quote and who said it but essential they said a group united in evil is worse than an evil leader alone. There are some items about the Conservatives I don't like but given the other options they are by far the only pragmatic and logical choice.

The reality is all "Leaders" are likely narcissistic and ego maniacs. They don't do it for money as there is more to be made in the private sector. New candidates or aspiring ones are all "sheep". They want in at the trough and will do whatever they are told to do. PET wasn't wrong when he said that MP's were nobodys when off the hill. Most do very little except vote as told to. The leader also has to sign off on their candidacy so becoming a dictator is almost unavoidable.

I'd use tax returns as voter exams...if you paid in more than you received in gov't benefits over the government's term in office, you get to vote.

This is just an effort to steal a few votes from the NDP, the far left see's prop rep as a way to gain power, so of course they want it, can you imagine if the conservatives were trying to completely change the syatem to their favor while forcing people to vote, the cries of fascism would be deafening. The liberals aren't doing this for us.
