POLS are being changed to pals.
No new test nothing. .. they just become pals.. Unsure if it is on renewal or instant.

POLs will be assumed to be PALs once this passes. You wont need to wait for renewal.
Just received an e-mail from CSSA - it's a done deal - Royal Assent!
POLs wont exist after the bill goes to law. The card will stay say POL but it will be considered a PAL. And part of the law is also a 6 month grace period for expired licenses.
If you let your license expire and miss the 6 month grace period, well, thats your own fault and I have a difficult time feeling sorry for you. We're all adults and should be able to keep our licenses in order (extenuating circumstances excluded).
I agree, absolutely. This was signed into law by the GG,today. Ralph Goodale is now on record claiming the Liberals "have no intention of re-introducing an LGR." The NDP hasn't made any comments one way or the other, but, given the corner stones of a quasi-communist party,I think it's a fair supposition that they'd do it in a heartbeat.
Changes to POL fon't take effect for 3 months. Until then, it's still a POL.
The 6 month grace period won't go into effect for 9 months.
Similarly, ATTs are still required for a few months yet. Check the Cdn firearms centre site.
I am still trying to find additional corroborating statements from the Minister's officer but this is from the updated link that topher posted as part of his start of this thread.
From Calibre magazine...
That’s right folks. According to the timeline we were given, all holders of RPALs should no longer require separate LTATT paperwork, and all POL holders can head down to their local gun shop and buy a new gun to celebrate, hopefully some time before Canada Day. Furthermore, we were informed that the order to move the Swiss Arms and CZ858 rifles back to their previously classifications will be occurring “promptly,” and should be expected some time this summer.
UPDATE: CLARIFICATION OF AUTOMATIC ATT ISSUANCE
We received further word this morning, after asking for clarification of the “upon renewal” portion of the automatic ATT issuance component of C-42, and the direct quote from Minister Blaney’s office is that “The phrase ‘upon renewal’ just means that as long as the person has a license and is in good standing, they are authorized to transport to the approved locations.” In other words, it does not appear to require current RPAL holders renew their license before they will be awarded with automatic ATT.
So since an ATT will kinda be implied if you have an RPAL does that mean you can shoot it at a secluded gravel; pit or on your own range?
RCMP bulletin 92 says it will be 9 months before the ATT's are rolled in to the PAL's....
