That's my opinion too....if they were targeting your guns, your dog would be dead and they would have succeeded in getting past your "lock and key''.

Sounds like a bunch of kids looking for stuff they could sell quickly for cash and couldn't be bothered trying to get past your dog.

No I've never put any stickers on my vehicle. When I joined Galt sportsmen club they said that's a big no no.

Ya vary true. Playoff hockey is over so its no big deal if they take the tv lol

I have a few trail camera around my house as well. Never know if they get out before police respond to the alarm I hope to have their faces/plate # on camera. Also get to see who's coming and going out of my driveway.

i started putting them out there this spring after my neighbers saw a black truck pulling out of my driveway twice in a week.

This. And they will case a neighbourhood, looking for soft targets. They avoid houses that seem like too much trouble and if they have a few close calls they find a new place to work.

A friend of mine who was living in a house that backed onto an alley in what we'll call a disadvantaged neighbourhood had a series of break-ins and eventually noticed a pattern: all the houses with dogs had a plastic bag tied on the back fence. The kids were going down the alley and marking the houses they wanted to avoid, then coming back later to do the job. Make your house a hard target and they'll hit the next guy.

The one thing on the list I don't think makes much difference is lights. I have security cameras, and a motion sensor light in front of the house that's rated at about 20 kilotons. When it goes on, you can feel your skin peeling off at 75 yards ... despite this, I have all kinds of video of kids walking up my driveway to check if I've locked the car.

And if someone really, really wants your guns ... he's gonna get them.

I'm really worried about this..
Ironically, I know of the 3 fellas who live in the country, who had their guns targeted for removal. One was a successful steal. Since the other two safes were tampered with, I can assume they weren't professionals.
Professionals or not it's disturbing...

I've had a few items stolen from me recently, and it this whole Young offender's act drives me bonkers.
My wife's from south side Chicago, and there hasn't been ONE break in in the past 30 years her folks had lived there...
I wonder why...

I have actually been ridiculed on here but I rarely unload firearms out of my locked vehicle until it's dark. My kids were well drilled to never mention that dad had guns or hunted. You never know who is watching.

I keep my gear in a back pack and my firearms in a black unmarked hard case. I get changed when I get where I'm going simply because it's cooler driving and I'm more comfortable not being all bulked up with gear. I don't worry too much about who sees what because the neighbors all know that I'm a hunter and angler,so,to them,it's no big deal. Travelling to my favorite hunting spots without looking like a hunter doesn't attract attention from law enforcement,either. Visible camo gear and/or blaze orange is R&PG for a vehicle stop and some LEO's get butt pucker if they think they could make a "gun" stop and harrass a hunter. It's not supposed to have a bearing on law enforcement,but,some of them seem to have bought into the BS. The less people know,the better.
