Not too many 300 lb bucks (dressed) in either province.

Ontario has a different subspecies of whitetail (northern or boreal woodland) from what SK does (Dakota). The genetics of the Dakota are generally larger with bigger antlers. The current B&C record typical is from SK (Milo Hanson's).
The heavy Ontario bucks are more a product of agricultural feeding than of genetics.
I haven't hunted SK, but from what I have read, the best hunting is late season, where you will be hunting in frigid temps from a blind, likely over bait.
