You guys may think I've completely lost it,but,I still think when all is said and done,there will be a right wing backlash against the NDP and Liberals. We can only hope. Honestly,what are the chances of the entire nation having a giant brain fart all at once?

right now, we are talking about voting the lesser evil - that's already a pretty sad approach.
if things continue, we will debate in a few years if we should vote ultra-right or ultra-left or just give our vote to the usual parties again (expecting a different result, by continuing what we have always done).
My only hope is that the majority of Canadians enjoy playing mind games with pollsters as much as I do.

As for Trudeau and Muclair (or anyone for that matter) making political hay of all of this situation, I have to say it is pretty low. Trudeau made the comment about Chris Alexander ("you don't get to suddenly discover compassion in the middle of an election campaign"), I just have to wonder how much compassion Trudeau has exactly shown. Has he gone out and started a sponsorship form to sponsor an Iraqi refugee family or even suspended his campaign and used his "star power" for fundraisers to donate money for refugees? If Alexander doesn't get to "discover compassion" about this situation, neither does Trudeau(the same rules have to apply to Trudeau) and he certainly doesn't get to insist the government up it's refugee numbers based on compassion.

So, do I understand this right.
Abdullah's 2 children drowned. His sister in BC, applied to sponsor Abduallah's brother, Mohammad, and that application was denied.
The plan was that Mohammad would go to Canada and then at some point Abdullah would immigrate to Canada, but no application was submitted by Abdullah.
Abduallah is saying because Mohammad's application was denied, he decided to flee to Greece instead. So, did he speculated that because Mohammad did not have his application approved, he would stand no chance, and decided to go another route?
I feel sorry for the guy, and I do believe the world needs to get better with humanitarian aid, but I'm not sure it's even feasible for our government to investigate cases like this to this degree. There has to be a process or chaos will erupt, and then things just get worse for everyone including the migrants. It is upsetting that things are so bad in Syria that he thought he had no choice but to flea, but I can't see how Canada can be blamed for that.
One thing I read is that they didn't have enough money to pay for life jackets, which would have made a huge difference (kids could have survived). What are the illegal migrant ships charging for life jackets?? They paid something like a few thousand euro for the trip. A life jacket costs $30 over here, probably could get them for $10 or less for humanitarian issues like this. I know this is too late, but the point is all these decisions are not in Canada's control, and although I hate what I'm seeing, I don't think it's right to put all this on Canada.
