You can do the same with a pump or a bolt, I crack the pump all the time when going through weird thing, mind you I also use a safety as well and I don't set my gun down loaded.

Nobody said the incident was caused by a particular type of action. What I said was I personally "prefer" a break action double. I find it is the safest and easiest design and when working with a high strung bird dog my choice. I also own a semi, prefer doubles.
It had to be a woman , didn't it. :)
I understand your point Terry :) and agree.
( Almost shot my toes off once. Dog was on point . I took the safety off and moved in for the flush in front of the dog ( Don't do that!) , dog broke , hit my leg , gun went off. ) Learned that day to come in from the side.
Totally agree on all comments about gun safety .... But I do agree with terrym. I love my over and under for the same reason! Should I be party hunting with people who are not familiar with me when I break my shotgun they know I am safe whether they are standing next to me or from a distance. And there are two .... Just two shells in my shotgun, never a third shell in a pump or semi-auto that someone "forgot".
Accidents come in all manner of disguises. I've been around long enough to know it's best NEVER to incriminate someone. I have made some mistakes that really saddened me - luckily no-one was injured. If you had asked me, "Would you.....?" I would have said, That'll never happen to me." Stuff happens. It's not an excuse what-so-ever. But it still happens.
That said, I have to agree with trkyhntr21. Semis are definitely a sign of the devil!
