I never had a deer that I would consider too tough and the guys at the camp used to shoot some old does and the odd old buck. I think back to that Yukon trip, our host up there was a guide, lots of Americans would go up and shoot massive old moose and not be able to bring it all back, so it filled his freezer. Old moose and caribou in full rut, not what a lot of people considered edible but even grilled on the BBQ is was amazing.
I would have a go at the loins if this guy happened to cross the county and stop in at my place :)
