Having a bad day isn't an excuse to lay "iffy" charges. Actually,it'll get his/her arse kicked. Court officers flip out when that happens. Nobody likes to be made a fool of,especially,them.

Illegal moose hunting....because the CO 15 years ago thought.................having a high powered centre fire rifle in your vehicle....driving around in an area that has moose/moose hunters you must be poaching.

Not suggesting that the CO would lay charges for things the lads may not have been doing, but the CO may have only given a warning for something instead of laying a charge.

I have received warnings to slow down before, when there was no doubt I was well over the speed limit.

No violations. No charges.

Best answer, because we don't have all the facts. We don't know the facts from the CO's point of view.

I'd love to read his interpretation. Right from the EC website:

"Since September 1, 1999, the possession or use of lead shot while hunting most migratory game birds has been banned in all areas in Canada."

I don't think they were doing anything wrong until such time as they stepped out of the vehicle and shot a bird however I'll hazard a guess that they were charged with not wearing proper hunter orange (not that they should have been).
