Hopefully a few crappie lakes we fish, my cottage being on one of them will be good by Xmas I hope. Usually slamming them by the 20 of dec might be a little later this year. As far as simcoe mid to late jan and the laker grounds even later than that.
Im going to go with mid January for the big Muskoka lakes. Its not even close yet, and the long range forecast is WARM.
Last year my first time out was on Rice Lake in Bewdley on January 10th and there was about 5-6 inches of ice.
Hoping to try some of the Haliburton lakes in early January this year.
Almost the end of the year and no cold weather on his way so what do you guys think now?
I thought the end of January but im thinking the all lake won't froze over until mid February if it does.
I have doubts the big Muskoka lakes will freeze over entirely this winter.
I have a feeling there will be more fatalities than normal this year when people head out on dangerous ice with snowmobiles. It will eventually freeze up but unfortunately people do stupid things.

Im with seabast on this one. Im starting to think simcoe the main lake wont freeze until February aswell If at all. Its not even looking good for the bays any time soon. It will be a short season indeed.
Smaller lakes are going to take the pressure from Simcoe.
