I have found HP to be the least reliable and seem to clock out early. Lenovo, Dell seem to be good machines. I am typing this on a 7 year ols Asus that has given me no trouble except the charger cable that crapped out 6 months ago. Got a replacement on line for about $25 shipped from Vancouver.
I also have a real hate for the later Windows versions. I really liked 7, but 8 & 10 gave me trouble, especially all the spy features built in and defaulted in 10. I am running Ubuntu Linux right now and there are a few Winders programs I'd like to run but can't, although 95% of what I do can be done on Linux. Many of the Linux apps are actually better than the Winders versions. It's as easy to use as Winders and uses less brainpower and memory than Winders. It also runs faster on this laptop than Winders 7 ever did.
