My buddies fury has a 40 yammy. Its a great rig. Any less than 40 and it would struggle with 3 guys.

I have a Lund Rebel SS. Lotsa gear...24 volt MinnKota...2 guys...50HP 4 stroke Yamaha. No problem but wouldnt want any less. Usually hit 32-35MPH.....Good Luck
awesome boat fshn 247! this one is on my wishlist
Thx Kokes...It is absolutely perfect for the amount of fishing I do and the lakes I fish.
Easy to trailer and easy to find storage for. Having said that I will go bigger
once the kids are a little older.
The 16 Lund is a great boat, a 30 4 stroke Yamaha, with tilt assist and Troll down will work perfectly. I say Yamaha because I hate Mercs,

I have the fury tiller with a 30 on it. Never any problem getting up on plane and i have even taken people tubing in it. 3 adults two kids in the boat and one adult being towed and i was still hitting fast enough speeds to fling the rider off on tight turns. With boat loaded and family of four i usually hit 25mph, alone i am usually hitting 29. Never felt the need to go to bigger motor, my only engine complaints are that i can't get it to run slow enough for some of the troling speeds i want without having to resort to backtrolling! I do recommend the 55lb thrust trolling motor. I have the 12v 45 and find that in heavy winds or thick weeds the motor has to work too hard to keep the boat moving.
I've got a 16' Crestliner Kodiak or Sportsman (all bench seats with split rear). It weighs 350 pounds dry weight. With my new Yammie 25, 4 stroke (170#), plus fuel, battery, tackle, myself and my daughter and nephew (500 combined), I can get up on plane easily. My old 25 Johnson 2 stroke would do the same. Top speed loaded is about 35-40 kmh. Plenty fast if the weatger comes up to get off the lake, but not so much that speed becomes a safety issue on top of the weather.
I've always thought maybe i should go towards the 40 it was rated for, but a 25 with only me in the boat can be scary fast if you aren't paying attention to your driving while at full throttle.
I have a Misty River 16' with a 30hp Merc short shaft that just flies at full throttle. I can put a 40 hp on it,but, the 30hp throttles right down for trolling where a 40hp won't do that without sputtering and choking out requiring using the trolling motor, exclusively.
I have a 16 foot Lund tiller as well. Mine has a 40 Honda. We have a water access cabin on the pickerel river and its great for hauling people food and gear. 40 hp is definitely the way to go. I did consider a 25 or 30 but 40 really is worth it.

Thanks for the feedback.
