Hunting Small Game With A Slingshot?

Love the slingshot, had one most of my life. We had home made ones on the farm as kids and we sure learned how to use them. Rats were plentiful in the pig barn and the Uncle wanted them gone. We became ‘marksmen’ as the competition was tough with 4 boys trying to be the best shot :)

A CO chatted with me about hunting with them when I was around 10 at a Provincial Park. All I got was the ‘don’t shot out your eye warning” and be safe. They were not illegal then and glad to know that hasn’t changed.

This is the Crossman that I own now, but honestly haven’t used it to much in recent years. At least now that I own a .45 Kentucky ML I have lots of ammo...those .440 lead balls are perfect size by the way.

Do whatever you feel is right but I bet you wound far more animals than you actually kill quickly and humanely. But then again I don't expect any "Dennis the Menace" wannabes to actually admit that.

Well, I did say it was a guess. And no, I have no intention in trying it so never will become a good shot. I would also say unless you can hit a quarter every shot you aren't good enough either.

That's an interesting tool. David even beat off Goliath with one. :) Definitely could have used you when we had to fight off rats back on the turkey farm.

You’ve never done it, don’t have any knowledge about it, and never plan on doing it..why do you think anyone would be interested in your opinion on it ?

Yes, a nice little story for children. Don't see many Goliaths around much I guess slingshots wiped them out. In real life how many people will bust wings, ribs and cause internal damage to grouse with poor body hits on grouse as was the original question in this post. I see that as intentionally or at least knowingly torturing game and this is what gives hunting a bad name.
I have no doubt you can stone grouse dead right there with head shot from a sling shot. My point is I doubt many people can shoot that accurately.
