I would tend to agree with line052 after owning a Savage.
However, playing devils advocate - I'd suggest a SS Marlin Lever in 45/70, or 35 Rem. For 150 yds - use the iron sights and save some $ for a good pair of binoculars.

X2 on the Browning x-bolt stainless, one hell of a rifle. I own two x-bolts and both can shoot sub moa at 100 yards. They come glass bedded from the factory have a short bolt throw, and buttery smooth rotary magazine. No need for a 300mag in your case and needs, 308, 30-06, 270 will do the job with less recoil and cost. Good luck with your search.
I would suggest a T3 or Savage or Ruger American in .308 or .30-06. A mid grade Bushnell 2x7, Redfield,Vortex would be a good choice for your ranges. The new "price point" bolt actions are darn good value for the money.
And still a good deer gun. I wouldn't put a lot of money into a heavy magnum cal. just for moose. I don't hold out much hope for Ontario moose hunts in the future...Quote:

I have a T3 Lite in .308 though, and don't mind the recoil at all.
I would pick a 308. Savage 11. With a 3x9 brightest scope for low light ( vx3 ? )

If I was buying a new moose gun I would probably go with a .308. Good for moose and deer and black bear. Rifle choice would be a light/handy Browning BLR or many of the nice bolt actions already mentioned. Now - if you want that same rifle to handle elk or big bears then move up to a .300 mag. .30-06 is considered by many to be good for all of the above.
