We have the luxury of a propane cook stove so we can put meals in on a timer to cook while we are hunting.
Chicken and dumplings, roasted wild turkey from the spring harvest, roasted chicken, venison hamburger helper and BBQ vension and beef steaks are the norm
I often make a freshwater fish chowder. Most of our meals are made out of wild game & birds as well. I always look forward to the camp meals. You folks are really making me hungry!!!!
Sounds like some camps are going to be eating some wonderful meals. As well we always eat great at camp !
Tried to make a Chicken Paprikash tonight for dinner, a test for a meal I thought of making for moose camp. Didnt turn out so well, while it was alright it wasn't AMAZING. Wondering if anyone has a favourite Paprikash recipe they would like to share. If not than I will most likely turn to a tried and true moose pot roast.
Paprikas recipe
pieces of smoked bacon steer a bit to get some fat out of it , chop one onion and steer for minute or two , drop in the chicken pieces steer a bit to fry the outside off it , drop in one small spoon ground paprika to the bottom and steer for a second or two and poor in some water so the meat get almost covered chop in one tomato , and cook it slowly barely boiling for an hour check the taste add salt as needed chop in potato cook for 20 more minute , and serve it .
(Don't burn the paprika and don't cook on high heat because won't be nice red paprika colour)
(Serve with sauerkraut separately) Drink Hungarian pears palinka (brandy ) before and after ...
and followed by read wine till midnight .....
