Just received this via email from RCMP
"The Firearm Act states that to be in legal possession of a firearm, you may maintain a valid firearms licence and have it with you when transporting a firearm. Your previous licence card is valid up to and
including November (I edited my birthdate out), 2017. Unfortunately, we do not issue temporary
certificates.
An individual without a firearms licence may use a firearm that belongs to a licenced person only under the direct and immediate supervision of an adult with a firearms licence.
"Direct and immediate supervision" means that the unlicenced person must be close enough to a licenced person when in possession of the firearm to allow the licenced individual to intervene to remove the firearm if necessary."
