Looks like the FLNRO needs to be reminded of the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation. There is no mention of using emotions or political influence on which to base management decisions.

I give it a couple years and it'll be back. This is why it's so important we as hunters need to speak up and denounce the ones that tarnish this sport. We as hunters, are a small minority
yes the mnr says there is excess of 15,,000 grizzlys.
White man got to eat also.
Between 1960-1997 there were 41 serious injuries and 8 fatalities attributed to the estimated 10,000 to 13,000 population of grizzly bears.
We now have an estimated population of 15,000 grizzly bears in B.C.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out in the future.

Look at the nonsense Ontario went through with the spring Black Bear hunt cancellation from an unbalanced population increase. Increased game species predation adversely affecting Moose populations, damage from Black Bears ripping up cottages,Bears threatening people in urban settings and a failed Black Bear Aware program as a stop-gap,feel good measure that turned out to be worse than useless....and we were only dealing with PITA,fairly docile, but, totally unpredictable Blackies. BC will be dealing with one of the greatest and nastiest apex predators on the planet. All I can say to them is "Hang onto yer hammies cuz things are gonna get crazy." :p
From the above study statistic,s
Population in B.C. in 1990,s was 3,620,440 Population in B.C. in 2015 was 4,694,700
Number of Average Annual serious human injury rateDecade or fatal injuries population (per person)
1960s 9 POP 1,855,470
1970s 11 Pop 2,452,250
1980s 19 Pop 2,977,090
1990s 33 Pop 3,620,440
It seems like there's something the matter with the "left" coast of N/A from BC down to CA there's always someone coming up with bright ideas. No Grizzly hunt, lets pollute the natural fish with fish farms, etc.
