It may actually turn out for the best long term. The liberals have so much corruption swept under the rug and totally cooked books that the winner may wish they didn't. I have no doubt the NDP will pander to the unions in a fashion that would make Wynne blush. 4 more years of incompetence and hopefully an electable PC leader maybe we can take the Province back. I think we're screwed this time unless the polling was done on a younger demographic who don't remember the Bob Rae years.

I thought even the Ontario PCs couldn’t blow this opportunity to dominate this election ... and then they elected Doug Ford.

All they needed was a moderate “safe pair of hands” and a majority government was theirs.

My father in law is a card carrying member who laments the PC fate every election. I tell him until the PCs pick a candidate who appeals beyond their core base they are going to lose when they should win.

Electing a leader like Doug Ford is a calculated gamble. If he wins,we're geniuses. If not.....well,nothing ventured,nothing gained. The net result will be the same and if he loses,it'll occur to the ordinary members that a total remake of the party may be necessary the same way a total revamp of the federal Conservatives was necessary after the Mulroney/Clark/Campbell era. Time will tell.

Remake the party, they should have won in 2011 and 2014 handily but they brought in Hudak to screw it up, now they bring in Ford to try to replicate the result of the last 2 elections, fun times in Ontario.

I was hoping Ford could come up with something to explain his election promises. Pull something out of the woodwork at the last minute to give us some sort of hint as to where he'd find 40 billion dollars.

Nothing. Not a word. You could buy 9 kinder morgan piplines with the hole in this guy's plan. Come on PC Party we deserve better from you.

Election promises ??? That's funny ! When has any NDP or Liberal Government kept a promise(platform). So does this mean that you are not going to vote for him ?

Lets just get the Conservatives elected and then hopefully the party will work on a leadership review.

I'm undecided as of yet but it is looking unlikely at this point. Ford has promised new spending and reduced revenue but said nothing about scrapping legislation or programs to pay for it. Some are saying this adds up to bigger deficits than the other parties plans.

I get that most folks here are conservative voters and will likely bite my head off for this, but Ford doesn't offer a lot of confidence for the undecided voter. If I'm picking someone to the job, it is hard to go for the only one without a plan.

I agree with you there, unless the 2 plans that are the other options scare the crap out of you, then it makes it a little easier to go with the unknown.
