Good job. Could you tell me what your normal calling sequence is? I am having trouble bringing them in.
I have not had enough success to say what unequivocally works every time, but I start with the decoy moving, then introduce “vole squeaks” at low volume and raise it until I can hear it. This is usually around 15 on my fox pro. I let that run a few minutes in case there is one close by sneaking around. If that doesn’t bring anything, I let out about 15 or 20 seconds of female coyote yips at about 15-18 volume depending how quiet it is where I am set up. I have had coyotes appear immediately to this before but later in the winter like February. If that doesn’t work, I go quiet for a few minutes and then run the lightning jack at full 20 volume for a few minutes.
My fox bang is set for a wounded coyote sound.
Like I said, this is what I am doing. Others mileage may vary.
Thanks. I will keep trying
You could be hunting an area where others have been calling and educating the coyotes, they get call shy very quick after being called and shot at.
Try a variety of calls , and experiment.
Or , it may be your inability to sit very still [ absolutely no movement,] which a coyote can detect from a long distance as he/she sits a the edge of a bush/ fence line to try and determine what and where the sound is coming from.
Thanks Jaycee. I have tried a variety of calls but wondered if I was over calling? I will keep trying
Good shooting!
Dilly - Congrats.
Question from looking at your pic. Do you have an extra speaker for your faxpro? I find mine is a little faint,
