Too many coyotes and the lack of cover have spelled there demise here in Ontario. We still go out, but we are chasing ghosts! I find that any good signs are around people’s houses and good luck getting permission. Very frustrating!
Been a while since I've targeted Jacks and although occasionally get the urge to get after them really don't know if the legs could handle it. If I were to go out the biggest challenge would be stringing enough property together. These days of subdivided farms getting permission on one property is hard enough trying to access a whole valley almost impossible.
You local Jack guys if you're so inclined twist my arm if you got space..... doctors says I could use the cardio.
Coyotes, hawks, farm pesticides, agricultural fields being plowed right to the end of cover, loss of fence hedgerows. I could go on. I see the odd track while crossing fields to get to my cottontail spots but not many. They have all but disappeared from the places I use to find them. Very sad.
