Bow hunting during rifle season

i was not so much asking about regulation. Bow hunting during any big game rifle seasons you need hunters orange until you are in a tree stand or blind. Be it bear, moose or deer season where I am I must where orange until in my stand or blind.

I am more asking about tactics.

I personally hunt a part of the private land I know the other two guys who hunt rifle don’t go in hopes they push deer towards me as they do not take the same care to be unnoticed that I do.

I am going to hunt some public land during rifle that I usually only hunt during bow only for deer. I have my spot for tree stand picked out and also a couple lines to still hunt. I am just looking to get some other ideas from other how only hunters.

I see you are from Seguin..up that way I'd find a beaver dam or creek crossing and stay downwind of it, try and catch a buck scent checking some doe bedding areas...

You cannot take off your hunter orange in a tree stand when hunting with your bow during an open gun season for deer.

Hunter orange for deer hunting does not stop at the tree stand, it must be worn at all times while hunting.

this is correct... the taking orange off in stand only applies to bear.

for me i archery hunt up until rifles season, then take a week off and back at it the following week - only 6 day rifle season here so it's a nice little break.

if i was to hunt it, i would get in tight to bedding cover. i hunt Public land only, and that many mugs in the bush pushes deer deeper into cover

I hunted during the bow/muzzle loader hunt a few years back, did not have a smoke pole yet at that point, 15 yards from a doe and 2 yearlings with no antlerless tag and they did not know what I was sitting in orange on the ground in the snow.

I continue to bow hunt on the properties I know don't feel the pressures of the shotgun season. When I am hunting the areas that are full of hunters and doggers I got with the shotgun.

I'd have no idea as in my area there is no bow hunting during a controlled deer hunt. But if I could I would find a place that I can see further and hope someone pushes a deer in my direction.

It's important to note that hunter orange must NEVER be removed during the open season for Deer,Moose or Elk even when hunting Black Bear from a stand. The new set fines are $350,an increase of more than double.

Also you have to wear a orange hat.

My area it’s shotgun, muzzleloader and bow now. Still hunting with bow but will do a weekend with the 30/30.
On my land although I shouldn’t feel the need to wear orange I will. There’s always the chance some other hunter is in the area that doesn’t know or respect property lines.
