As far as I know , staying away from the cottage is not a rule, (law), but a suggestion. Why? Likely because they can't prevent it.

JM. I know how you feel,,I don’t blame you. I don’t really blame “cottagers” other. I’d be there myself.
It’s the 10-20% that won’t self isolate.
I’m curious, those weekenders that tested positive. We’re they self isolating? Maybe 90% were.
4-5 of them likely not. And in a small town like huntville say.....the start of a snowball.
Either way. Um, how did they test positive without leaving the cottage?

And this in part is why. It’s on Ford. He didn’t have the stones to order it.
We can tell people all we like, why they shouldn’t target brook trout during July/Aug. we can explain why fighting Musky to exhaustion isn’t a good idea. We can ask them not to... The law says they can. And really I don’t mind.
Because ultimately. I am responsible for my own safety. When I go into town, I assume every weekender, and every resident and every door handle/gas pump.
Is a land mine..
If I catch it...it’s my own fault.
But all that said.
We all or most us, think JT should have closed the airports...so...
I was under the impression the Feds, the province and each municipality had plans to this. They do. They talk about the importance of cohesion. Call that 1 rule for all.
Apparently not.
Or perhaps, they need to give a lot of thought to crap, so that next time. The rules are “the same for everyone”.
The class action lawsuit resulting from 'cottagers', being forbidden by law, from going to their own property, yet still having to pay taxes would bankrupt most northern communities.
Well it's law here in Haldimand/Norfolk according to my neighbour couple who are a judge and a lawyer. The medical officer of health had the power to make it law and did much to the chagrin of the mayor's and councillors. What's to stop the other MOH of the region's and county's from doing the same thing? Enforcement however? I will say we have some over zealous bylaw officers here from the true stories I've heard and after personally emailing the mayor who told them to have some common sense, but they continually do it. Want me to ask my judge friend fishermccann?
Sure please do. I am guessing there are going to be some property tax rebates in that area. I did not know that medical officer of health can make laws, unilaterally.
I am now off to stand on a bridge over the 401 , for the repatriation of one of our true Canadian heroes.
I think ford said not to do that lol. It will be broadcasted on the television.
But do as you please lol just buggin ya ,but I do think he said to not go though. He didnt want the crowds but if you all stay socially distanced all is well.

I've been to my retreat a few times already. Left my home and didn't leave my vehicle until I arrived. Wasn't near anyone, don't see a problem. Will be heading back for long weekend
I usually spend 5 months at the cottage following May 24 . I too will be going up, and I will decide then, for how long. I usually only come back to the city long enough to cut the lawn and pick up the mail, then back up ASAP. Can't see this year being any different.
Makes me wonder about washroom facilities for all these travelers, there's no Timmy's or Mcdonalds to duck into when traveling or anything else for that matter.
