Yeh your on the right track my family Doctor a pretty smart cookie and researcher does not recommend the flu shot, except for very elderly people who are immunocompromised. From my short conversations with her she states that affects on the body are unknown and that the strains of flu that change every year are ahead of the vaccines.So even at 65 years old,having recovered from cancer and being immunocompromised she does not recommend it for me.Now in another 10 years she will probably recommend it as the benefits then might outweigh the risks.

My post wasn't exactly accurate, but I think it's safe to say there's tremendous pressure to get this done quickly. We all know how rushed jobs can turn out.

I won't be first in line for a vaccine...

There is a lot in that sentence you wrote.What part I write is contrary.All of the advice or some of the advice?

You do know that the flu is different every years,by the time they figure out what strain is around you may already have been given a shot.
They do not have a crystal ball and know what is going to pop up.

No different from Covid 19,they might develop a vaccine tomorrow and a virus mutates and that vaccine will not be affective.

If you get Covid 19 and recover from it your not suddenly immune you can get a new strain and your out of luck again.

I think that's the norm within the healthcare industry GW. The majority of Dr's I've heard of, including the ones at our medical centre and ones like my Dads who refused to take on patients that didn't get a flu shot. His actually told him she would fire him as her patient if he didn't get a shot..and he was relatively healthy.

All virus could mutate so should we stop giving all the vaccines that people get as kids?

Your right about the flu there are many strains I believe they generally create the shot using what they believe to be the 3 most likely flu virus each season. Based on what I read at the very best of times it is 40% effective but like I said at even 10% it is still better then nothing.

I'm healthy as well but as you get older your body does become weaker and weaker.

To each their own GW, I have had shingles twice now and basically my own immune system took care of it,not pleasant but I,am still here. You have to weight up the odd's and decide if a 10% outcome,outweighs any danger posed to your body by taking the shot.If your a life time smoker and might get pneumonia as an after affect of influenza it might be worth the risk.I run,eat good food,don't smoke and drink alcohol modestly.

Well you'll have to excuse me if I don't believe so called fact checkers, facebook is full of them trying to dispute many of the facts that are out there relating to many things. Funny how they all suddenly showed up when the truth starts coming out. Many of these fact checkers have also been proven to be totally false paid off sites by social media looking to sway public perceptions and when they quote the WHO which has flip flopped on so many things related to covid I'm even less likely to believe them. For now I'm quite happy relying on my own immune system, I picked the H1N1 bug in 2009 and haven't been sick since, not even a cold whereas my wife gets one or two bad ones each year. Like I said earlier, if they can actually develop a vaccine for Covid19 why haven't they done the same for the common cold. I don't trust them one bit.

Johnson and Johnson just recently put an immediate stop to their human trials when one of their participants became suddenly very ill. No thanks, I will take my chances and use common sense myself to stay safe. If the same people telling us we need to wear masks to be safe are the same people telling us we need to take a vaccine when one made available, I don't trust them, not one bit. The only thing a fast track vaccine will cure you of is fear itself...lol

They actually study what goes on in Australia (and other Eastern countries) during their winter months. The success rate of following what happens there and using that to determine what will happen here is pretty good. And if they miss, the vaccine you do get, is still a variant of the strain so you get some protection. They've proven the flu won't hit you as hard.

As for the rest skeptics, that's OK, just as long as your the only one affected by your decision. Been there done that, but now I won't take a chance at letting myself get sick and infecting those I socialize with. Don't want any of them to end up in a hospital or worse for something I can do that is free, no effort and safe.
