We've taken a pass this year,too. Most of our members live in "high incident" areas ( GTA and Ottawa region). Besides,our area had an 80% reduction in tag allocation. It just ain't worth it.

The big bugaboo with that is that testing really doesn't mean jack squat. We could test negative today and get positive tomorrow. Too much emphasis is being attached to testing. What is NEVER reported is how many tests are actually "false positive" because the potential is there to change the narrative.

I get tested every 2 weeks so I can help Mom and Dad who are in a retirement home so I know that I have never have had it. I will get tested just before heading up North and will do mostly stands this year. Not to sure how we will do clean up, ware masks I guess and space out in the barn. This years end of season Gang photo might have to be taken in panorama mode.

this screenshot show the actual number of deaths, people hospitalized, in ICU and in ICU on ventilators. 3,000 people dead out of 69,000 positive results. Convince me there is no problem.

Under 20 6,894 positive 1 death = 0.000145 death rate....
20-29 yrs 14,299 positive 4 deaths= 0.000279 death rate....
30-39 yrs 10,738 Positive 7 deaths= 0.000651 death rate.....
40-49 yrs 9,508 Positive 27 deaths=0.002839 death rate.....
50-59 10,258 Positive 102 deaths=0.009943 death rate....
60-69 6,686 Positive 283 deaths=0.042327 death rate....
70-79 3,829 Positive 543 deaths=0.141812 death rate....
80-89 4,262 Positive 1,122 deaths=0.263256 death rate....
90-99 2,844 Positive 997 deaths=0.350562 death rate....

So if I did my math right, the death rate for young people is very low, most of the deaths are coming from seniors+

but they will tell you if they think its a false negative or false positive, my girlfriend had to take one for work related purposes and they gave her a positive result, next day she got a call back saying it may be a false positive so you have to come back and take a new test. just an experience i know of anyways.

you can also buy one of the quick temperature checkers to check people everyday, just another thing that comes to mind.

if you dont trust the people you're hunting with to follow covid rules then i guess its a different story.

i understand what you guys are saying 100% and do recognize the issues/ concerns.

luckily the group we were part of broke off, its now just 3 of us and we are all related but one of us is in another household so the risk is very minimal.

The death rate is 3,000 for 69,000 cases or 4.34% in Ontario so far. The other concern is the number of people hospitalized and the number who have been released but are still suffering from long term conditions from Covid.
I would hazard a guess that many of the people hunting are within the high risk senior ages. I’m 63 and in very good health But others are not so lucky.

You sure about that? BC has not had any mask policies from the start and the virus never spread hardly at all, the numbers didn't rise much, so masks had zero effect.
Denmark is another country that has had kids in school since May, no masks and no huge spikes in cases.
Common sense is more important than wearing masks.
Increased testing means more positives. Why were they only doing 10,000 tests in June, and 50,000 now?

I stats below show you why the behavior around here is not one of hysteria and why it's NOT a huge threat to the area.

For Local Leeds Grenville: population of 70,000 people. There has only been 426 cases ....that represent .61% of the population has been affected.

since Mar...only 46 were Hospitalized..Only 6 were in ICU. There were 52 deaths and 94% (49) of those were in LTC..

Today there is only 1 patient in a Hospital..only 1 in ICU.

The 2nd wave that is dominating the news is statistically NOT happening here..the virus has never affected more than 1% of the total population and people quit frankly have stopped being hysterical about it. Very few people wear masks anywhere but where is mandatory.

No one denies that it's out there...but take a look at the numbers in relation to the population to get an accurate look at what is really going on. When there's a 'spike' of 50% increase of cases....and in reality represents an increase from 2 to 3 patients, it's hard to get excited.

Regardless of what you say, this is still a nasty and terrible virus and one you should want to avoid as much as possible. People try to trivialize it by using statistics but statistics is not going to make it go away. You or your family member don't want to be on the wrong side of these statistics, no matter how small that number is.

Because of this perceived low statistical risk, people are justifying not following the rules, with the result that the virus is surging even more.

If EVERYONE just followed the simple rules which include social distancing and washing your hands as a way of life for now, we'd be over this thing a lot faster. But people are simply not following the rules because it does not affect them and they could not care less about everybody else.

Enjoy hunting, but follow the rules told to us by our doctors and experts almost on a daily basis!

Nor sure where you are getting your numbers but there has been a spike in cases in B.C. see screen shot and link for details. Currently there are areas with low numbers but thus can change quickly.
