I can see how you might consider me a sympathizer D.C. Gilroy but I'm just keeping an open mind especially after witnessing the open and blatant propaganda put forth by all of the "media" outlets you mention over the last two years regarding covid. Take a look at how many new coal mines are being worked in Canada by TFWs with "special training" and how many new coal fired plants are being built right now and the next few years in certain far east countries. The older ones are being phased out, but the # of new ones with new (hopefully) tech on scrubbers for emissions are the future for some countries.

The west seems to be pretty confident in Ukraine’s ability to hold its own. They’re pumping loads up money and weapons into the country. What will happen to the money and weapons should Ukraine fall? Is it really calculated risk or part of a plan to stall Russia in hopes of the west secretly mobilizing their militaries? Putin seems determined not to back down.
I would say Guinea pigs it's an experiment. The west gets to see how the Russians plan and execute military manoeuvres and what kind of equipment they actually have.

They try to wipe off all signs of presence of minorities living there for millennia by phisical abuse too-and then they pretend,they do not know,and can not find culprits.
They cry about the invasion-but blissfully igore ,they sent in the 5th Motorized brigade into Iraq,at the onset of the II Iraq war, to take part of invading a far away country?

As to when the war will be over that's an interesting thing. The western world is going to keep it going for as long as they can. Not sure why maybe keeps the agenda where they want it. . Was reading an article the other day about Europe energy prices and how they skyrocket . The plan is to stall things out to lef the Russian energy run dry.
EU is still purchasing a billion dollar in Russia energy everyday.
Is the western world trying to prolong it ?
We are in full engagement and eager to keep it going no western party is trying to end the conflict just adding fuel to the fire. .

My neighbours can be a bit much sometimes. They are very loud in the evening while I’m putting my kids to bed, their animals roam my property and leave little bombs all over, they can be unpleasant to speak with, especially around the kids (adult language). But, as tough as it is having neighbours like this, I don’t plan on breaking down their door, assaulting them and trying to take over their land.Quote:

The only one prolonging this war is Russia. Why is it hard for some to see this. Russia are the aggressors, Russia are the ones waging war. Russia are the ones that invaded and are in control of some parts of a sovereign nation. Russia are the ones indiscriminately bombing civilian targets (hospitals, trains stations), and destroying all kinds of infrastructure. If you want the war to end, Russia must withdraw immediately. Simple.

It’s strange to me how Russia is indiscriminately bombing Ukraine and laying waste to Ukraine's infrastructure and population, but they take a retaliatory tone if they suffer defeats (ie. sinking of the maskova, destruction of fuel depot inside Russian territory). Did they expect Ukraine to sit idle and accept the invasion and destruction?
Also curious, is the Russian orthodox patriarch in Moscow. He is clearly supporting Russia's military campaign without hesitation. You would expect a man of the cloth to be against violence and war, especially when those warring are of the same religion. It must be making some orthodox parishioners in Ukraine scratching their heads.
I think the world will get tired of this conflict soon. For weeks we have heard the repetitive call for weapons and support from Zelensky. Eventually, the call will go unanswered. There has been no backing off from Russia, and people in the west will tire from the standstill. Russia should not be allowed to claim victory in any way, shape or form. It would only bolster its ambitions in the future. A “game changer” event would need to occur to set a stricter, more involved west in this conflict.
Will Sweden and Finland join nato? This would definitely upset Russia.
Putin’s propaganda machine is not perfect. So far he has tried to squash any domestic resistance to his invasion of Ukraine. He’s done a good job at shutting down free speech, but people in Russia still protest and still get arrested for doing so. As long as people in Russia have access to unaltered internet they will see the truth. I can only speculate that some time in the future the general population in Russia will rise up against its leaders and oligarchs and demand a truly free and democratic society without corruption.
Definitely agree with your last paragraph, but you could even insert Trudeau or Biden instead of Putins' name in as well as Canada or the US for Russia and it would still apply. The only ones that were interested in speaking ONLY Russian were the separatists. Unlike Canada and it's pi** poor language education in Europe it isn't uncommon for several languages to be spoken in the same house and kids often grow up knowing several languages. I know people here that did that, wife talked Chinese and husband English for example and their kids are fluent or atleast adequate in a second language besides English.
