I do believe we should have the castle doctrine here in Canada, or just be better positioned legally to defend our homes and families. There are tons of home invasions and theft up here because criminals know that no one is armed.

I would say not to many truly innocent folk's are the victim's of home invasions, mostly bad guys ripping off other bad guys for illegal drugs ,or money, if its an innocent they usually got the wrong address.
A criminal is more likely to get shot up north in a home invasion than in the city in an innocent persons home because there are more guns in homes up north in the average guys home .
You can do what ever you want too . Just be prepared for the consequences and lawyer fees lol. You have the right to protect yourself and your property but depending on the outcome you could also be criminally charged.
I will protect my family and property first then ask questions later lol. Maybe the beat up dirt bag won't call the cops when he gets his butt whooped .

But you are right lots are just over the drugs or whatever.
A carjacking shooting near us recently was it the car they wanted or what was in the car I ask ? It would be the second one in the past few years same spot makes ya wonder.

Easy there tough guy, most of the skells that pull that shyte are higher than kites on dope. You can beat on them all day long and not affect them. Unless you beat the living bejeezus out of him with a couple of rock solid swats upside the head with a Louisville Slugger,if he doesn't kill you outright, you'll likely wish he did by the time he's done with you.
Better to be judged by 12 tan carried by 6.
Just possessions, better to call the cops, and not be judged by anyone. Except on here. Life and limb in danger, different story altogether.
I grew up in what at the time was a typical blue collar hood. Once, when i was about 12-14 and home alone at night I heard someone at the front door.I grabbed my dads .303, put 5 in the magazine ready to slam it and the bolt home right fast. Never had to find out thankfully.
Much later in life, the wife and kids were in bed asleep around mid night when I heard someone running from my front to back yard. Then a minute later back to front followed by hard fast knocks on the door. There before me was a woman in her 30s. Her first words "help me, call the police. Growing up where I did, and having spent too much time in the hood. My first thought was.
"is there someone behind the door I cant see, waiting for me to open it wide?
Her hair was a mess, she was shaking, barefoot, dirt and mud plainly visible. I let her in. "What's happening"? "My husband is after me, he's going to kill me". I closed and locked the door, turned off the lights, called 911. Questions back and forth. One being "Is he armed?"
So I asked her, she said "Yes, he's a cop".
Do I wish at that very second I had a gun in the house?
You bet your hieny I did. There was me, my wife, my kids and her.
In 99.? % of home invasions , they just want possessions, not to harm the inhabitants. Unless it was a targeted attack, on the person. Then there are underlying reasons that need to be addressed.
