I find that mass can be deceiving when bucks are in velvet. IMO, more reliable indicators of the size of the rack are the spread and tine length. Looks like a nice buck though.
I tend to look at the potential of a rack based on the bases when they are in the early phase of growth.Quote:

Since I started to put out Tail Cams year round and I'm the only human pressure on about 600 acres, I tend to lean that they are naturally nocturnal. Yes so realisticly you are only catching them when they come to feed in the field, which is usually at dusk and then again at dawn. This does not mean they are sleeping all day though. They can very well be on the other side of their home range during those hours or traveling in the deep brush.Quote:

Sure its easier to just say the deer is nocturnal and call it a day but thats not the case. Its actually one of the bigger myths out there.
