One thought in my head is that many bow hunters do not understand that during a gun hunt they must wear the same hunter orange as gun hunters. I know of people who hunt all seasons with a bow as if they are allowed in full camo.
several years ago I was still hunting in the loring area. I was walking very slowly and as quiet as possible down this trail. I look almost beside me and there is a guy in full camo about 4' of the ground in a fallen tree with his bow. I could imagine if I was back 100yds and had a deer run past me. I would never have seen him and would have unloaded on the deer.
The concept that is being presented is to follow all the controlled rules including the draw numbers and orange clothing except use a bow instead of a gun.
We as a hunting community can stand up and present a responsible solution to the increased urban sprawl before we get told what the rules will be, city limits will continue to expand and property owners will want to reduce gun hunting around those locations, but if we can show bow hunting to be a viable option we can maintain more hunting privileges than we would otherwise lose.
This is already done, from Oct 1st to Dec 31st across the province.Quote:

In the US they have urban shotgun hunts, nothing is wrong or unsafe with having an urban hunt but people don't like hunting. There is no use dividing hunters, like this thread is once again trying to do.
While I respect your opinion (and your other posts), I disagree with you on this point. The approach to maintaining hunting opportunities is being presented above as a proactive diplomatic solution to meet all stakeholders needs, as opposed to a push pull approach where we hunters ask for more than we want and settle in the middle. As such, neither method is attempting to divide hunters per se but to add clarity to the methods used approaching loss of hunting areas in order to add volume to our collective voice. Bow hunting in the controlled hunt near areas of urban sprawl is a solution to maintain hunting opportunities where there are local land owner concerns of gun discharge, no matter how unfounded, and one or both can become ruled out.Quote:
